Legislation on the protection of personal data at national level based on the general personal law protected by state, fundamental rights and freedoms embodied in the Constitution of the Slovak Republic. Pursuant to its Article 19 (2) and (3) everyone has the right to protection against unauthorized interference in private and family life and to protection against unauthorized collection, publication, or other misuse of personal data. The Article 16 the Slovak Constitution states that the inviolability of the person and its privacy is guaranteed whereby we mean the inviolability of privacy in connection with the whole area of intimate personal life and not only in terms of protecting the home and what goes on behind the doors of our house or apartment. However, just a justified concern on personal data breach cannot be considered for violation of this right. Those constitutional rights are implemented in particular into the Act no. 122/2013 Coll. on Personal Data Protection and about Amendment of other Acts.
